Review the complete shrimp process
Shrimp quality and throughput depend on how each stage hands product to the next. A typical line may include receiving, washing, inspection, cooking where required, cooling, grading, IQF freezing and packing. Raw and cooked shrimp need different handling and temperature control.
Washing and cooling before grading
Washing removes surface material and prepares shrimp for inspection or later processing. Cooked shrimp should normally be cooled before mechanical grading because warm product is more fragile. Ambient-water cooling and ice-water pre-cooling can be arranged according to the required process basis.
- Confirm raw or cooked product condition
- Control product temperature before grading
- Provide drainage and cleaning access
- Keep the feed even to protect grading accuracy
Where the shrimp grader fits
The grader can be positioned after washing and cooling, or earlier when size separation is needed before cooking or freezing. The correct position depends on the product condition, target grade count, downstream freezer capacity and packing requirements.
Match grading to IQF freezing
After grading, consistent product flow helps the IQF freezer operate with a more predictable load. The grading machine, conveyors, distributor and freezer should be checked for compatible throughput, transfer height, hygiene design and cleaning procedures.
Information needed for a line proposal
For a complete shrimp processing line quotation, provide shrimp species, raw or cooked condition, incoming size range, target capacity, number of grades, product temperature, power standard, factory space and the required packing format. Photos or a simple flow diagram are useful for integration discussions.
